Cost Effective GRP Modular Handrails

GRP modular handrail systems offer a cost-effective, durable, and easy to install alternative to traditional steel materials.

These modular GRP handrail systems are designed for low maintenance and are particularly suited for commercial and industrial applications due to their outstanding corrosion and impact resistance, as well as high strength-to-weight ratios.

Unlike steel, aluminium, and timber, GRP modular handrails significantly outperform in terms of longevity and overall cost savings.

50mm x 40mm GRP pultruded tube (5mm wall) in 5m lengths that fit exactly into a comprehensive range of matching GRP moulded fittings including GRP Stanchions.

The pultruded tube and toe plate are manufactured from high-grade isophthalic polyester resin with E-glass fibre roving, a continuous filament mat, and a surface veil.

The moulded fittings are created from a proprietary sheet moulding compound, incorporating chopped E-glass fibre, isophthalic polyester resin, and mineral filler to ensure robustness and longevity.

Available in yellow or grey, these components allow for bespoke solutions tailored to specific aesthetic or safety requirements. This glass reinforced plastic (GRP) handrail system complies with BS1422-3 standards for Stairs, Stepladders, and Guardrails, offering a reliable and low-maintenance solution for a wide range of industrial fibreglass applications.

What Are The Main Benefits of Composite Handrails?

Composite handrails are a popular choice for a number of industrial and commercial environments. If you’re looking for a cost-effective type of handrail system that is much more durable than traditional alternatives such as steel and aluminium, GRP Modular Handrails should be seriously considered. Moreover, just like the GRP Standard Handrails, they are also weather and corrosion-resistant.

Where Are They Most Suitable?

GRP Handrails (modular) are suitable for a wide range of applications and environments. Here at Engineered Composites, we get many different customers enquiring with us about the supply of handrails. The main purpose of the handrails is for protection and safety. Therefore, they are ideally suited for staircases, pedestrian barriers, and ramps.

Are GRP Handrails Safe?

Yes, of course. Modular handrails are completely safe. GRP Modular Handrails are one of the safest options in the industry because of the connectors used within the structure. There is no sharpness with the handrails so no risk of injury whatsoever to anyone using or touching the handrails. Moreover, Modular Handrails are also really easy to transport due to being lightweight.

Can GRP composite handrails be customised to fit my project?

Yes, GRP composite handrails can be customised to fit your project requirements. Engineered Composites are able to fabricate GRP handrails in various lengths, heights, and designs to suit the specific dimensions and aesthetics of your application. We serve a number of industries when it comes to handrails so you can be sure that you are choosing one of the best handrail suppliers in the UK.

How do GRP handrails compare to metal handrails?

GRP handrails offer advantages over metal handrails. They are lightweight, which simplifies handling and installation. They are also corrosion-resistant, making them suitable for outdoor environments. Additionally, GRP handrails are non-conductive, providing an added safety benefit in electrical or high-voltage areas. GRP is the number #1 in-demand material for its longevity.

How long do GRP handrails last?

GRP handrails have a long service life due to their corrosion resistance and durability. They do not rust, rot, or degrade like metal or wood. With proper installation and maintenance, GRP handrails can last for many years, making them a cost-effective solution for your business or application.

Can GRP handrails withstand outdoor environments?

Yes, GRP handrails are highly resistant to corrosion caused by weather conditions, UV radiation, moisture, and chemicals. They are designed to withstand outdoor environments, making them suitable for applications in both indoor and outdoor settings. Engineered Composites regularly supply GRP handrail for outdoor purposes including railways and leisure centres.
